Jefferson County Radio Amateur Club, Inc.
P.O. Box 523, Brownville, NY 13615

Regular Meeting
Monday, September 11, 2006

The meeting was called to order at about 7:40 p.m. by Vice-president Mark Chamberlin, WB2PKO.  The flag salute was given.  (The start was delayed a little in hopes of more members attending.  The attendance included just over the minimum required for a quorum.)

The following Officers and Trustees were in attendance:

WB2PKO, Mark Chamberlain, Vice-president

KC2CUJ, Malcolm Adsit, Treasurer

KB2VMR, Don Scee, 3-Yr. Trustee

The following Officers and Trustees were absent:

KB2SVQ, Nelson LaBarge, Jr., President

WX2PJR, Paul Reape, Secretary

KC2KVE, Mike Brouse, Activities Director

WB2ASL, Ernie Jeican, 2-Yr. Trustee

WB2LCE, Ron Sixbury, 1-Yr. Trustee

There were no minutes from the previous meeting as the handwritten notes had been given to Nelson and have not yet been entered into the club website.

The treasurer's report was read by Mal Adsit, KC2CUJ.  Fred, KC2KBQ, moved that Mal's report to be approved.  Delores, KC2KYN, seconded the motion.  It was approved.

Old Business

Steve, WA2VQD, reported that he had discussed a topic from last month’s meeting with Ernie.  The topic (old business) was that the bylaws be revised to allow associate members to be elected to office, at least in the case of the Secretary.  The result of the discussion is that the change is not necessary and the request to change the bylaws be withdrawn.  (A simpler solution was discussed, that we ask for a volunteer to take notes in the absence of the Secretary and a club officer would see that the notes were forwarded to the Website Editor.)

(Someone) mentioned that the previously approved purchase of three new picnic tables would probably wait for spring as the inventory at Sam’s Club was running out.

New Business

Fred, KC2KBQ announced that the Black River Stages event needs Ham Radio operators on October 6 through 8.  Additional information is at their website http://www.blackriverstages.com/  (Except for the picture of a car, there is nothing on the first page to tell us that the event is a road rally or maybe a race.)  The best suggestion for Ham Radio information was to contact Pete, KC2WI via the Black River Valley Amateur Radio Club, http://www.qsl.net/brvarc/

Mal, KC2CUJ, brought a letter addressed to the club in Adams Center, from the Sackets Harbor Fire Company asking for our support.

Don, KB2VMR, brought a QSL card (and SASE) received via the club PO Box.

The upcoming club election is another piece of new business.  (I did not note who raised the topic but many offered input.)  It was suggested that we appoint a committee, or at least a chairman to search for members willing to serve as officers for the coming year.  After informal discussion, including someone’s recollection that we had at least one volunteer at least month’s meeting, it was suggested that we proceed with volunteers identified so far and present the slate of candidates at the next meeting.  (At his point we still need a Secretary, Trustee and Activity Director.)

The Fall Ball was also announced.  It is scheduled for Saturday, October 14 at the North Side (Improvement) League.

Ron, KC2JGP, moved that the meeting be adjourned.  Paul, KC2GWT, seconded the motion.  The meeting ended at approximately 8:03 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Mark Chamberlin, WB2PKO (Vice-president)
