Jefferson County Radio Amateur Club, Inc.
P.O. Box 523, Brownville, NY 13615

Regular Meeting
Monday, June 5, 2006

The meeting was called to order at 7:47 p.m. by President Nelson LaBarge, Jr., KB2SVQ.  The flag salute was given.  There were 14 people in attendance.

The following Officers & Trustees were absent:

The minutes from the last meeting were read by Nelson, KB2SVQ.  Rick Holley, W2QJH, offered a correction to the minutes:  He did not attend the Homeland Security Meeting which was held at Jefferson Community College.  No amateur radio operators were in attendance.  We will be invited to the next meeting.  A motion to accept the corrected minutes was made by Rick, W2QJH, and seconded by Ron, KC2JGP.  The motion was carried.

The treasurer's report was read by Mal Adsit, KC2CUJ.  Don Scee, KB2VMR, moved that Mal's report to be approved.  Delores, KC2KYN, seconded the motion.  It was approved.

Old Business

The activities director was not at the meeting to report on plans for the upcoming Field Day events.  It is planned that the main activities will take place at the clubhouse.  An auxiliary 2-meter station will be setup at the Walmart Supercenter if Mike Brouse can obtain permission from them to do so.  It was noted that a separate call sign will be needed for that station.

Field day discussion included that setting up HF antennas would be difficult, off-site setup might need liability insurance for that day, 2-meter could include Echolink, last year's field day had only a handful of people operating radios, a few people at the meeting thought they would be available to participate this year, may possibly earn 100 points for having a public field day site, we decided that anyone attending would provide their own food that weekend, and might not have anyone staying overnight this year at the clubhouse.

Rick Holley, W2QJH, moved that the club provide gasoline for the generator.  Paul, KC2GWT, seconded the motion.  It was approved unanimously.

Nelson mentioned that N1ND might be able to give us some help with Field Day ideas. (Editor's Note: N1ND is Dan Henderson, the ARRL contest manager) Nobody attending expressed interest in inviting him to attend our Field Day.  It was thought that our setup might be an embarrassment compared to what some clubs do.

New Business

Nelson, KB2SVQ, said that someone from the Black Lake area would donate a 60-foot crank up tower.  The members present expressed their appreciation for the offer, but it was decided that we don't have the means to transport nor install such a tower.  The offer was declined.

Mal, KC2CUJ, reported that dues for the 2006/2007 fiscal year are due July 1st.  He also said that there will be a VE Session at Dave Little's home at 6:30 p.m. on June 20th.

The 50/50 drawing was won by Steve, WA2VQD.  He donated he share back to the club.

Steve, WA2VQD, moved that the meeting be adjourned.  Paul, KC2GWT, seconded the motion.  The meeting ended at 8:36 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,
Mark Chamberlain, WB2PKO (Vice-president)
