Regular Meeting
Monday, May 1, 2006

 

The meeting was called to order by the President Nelson La Barge, Jr., KB2SVQ, at 7:32 PM.

 

The Flag Salute was given and a moment of silence was observed for Wendell Nemier, KB2PMN.

 

President LaBarge read last October’s minutes.  A motion to accept was made by ___________ and was seconded by ______________.  They minutes were approved as read. 

 

Treasurer, Mel Adsit KC2CUJ read the report.  Ernie, WB2ASL made a motion to accept and Steve Gunn, WA2VQD, seconded.  The treasurer's report was approved as read.   

 

Old Business

 

Steve Gunn, WA2VQD, informed members that the $1000.00 bequest from Estate of Claude Preston Burt was still being processed and would be apportioned when all beneficiaries have submitted the necessary papers to the lawyer.

 

New Business

 

The President said that a Building Control Officer was needed and Don Scee KB2VMR was appointed.  Paul Barben, KC2GWT, nominated Mike Brouse, KC2KVE, for Activities Officer and Ron Maeder, KC2JGP, seconded the nomination.  The vote was unanimous.

 

A cover for the septic tank is coming and should be here this week.

 

The President feels that we should put safeguards on the windows because of a break-in this winter.  An analyzer was taken but later returned.  Steve asked if it could be kept at Don Scee’s.  Don said it was not a problem.

 

The Drake is being repaired and will be returned.

 

Discussion was held about annual Picnic and Auction.  Should it be at the Clubhouse or at Westcott Beach?   Majority was in favor of the Club House.  Paul felt that we need a new tent.  Ron Maeder offered to look at the metal parts and repair if needed.  Ernie asked about picnic tables.  He offered to try to get wood or check on fiberglass tables from Sam’s Club.  Rick Holley W2QJH made a motion that Ernie buy three fiberglass tables from Sam’s Club and Cliff Moorhead seconded.  The motion was carried.

 

Mel asked that all those interested in attending the Spring Fling on Saturday the 20th of May, please have their reservation in by Monday, May 8th.  It is being held at the former Tomacy’s now the Adams Country Club with an extensive buffet for $14.00 which includes tax and tip, half price for children and those under 5 free.  The social hour will begin at 6 PM and buffet at 7 PM.

 

Ernie suggested the Secretary’s minutes be kept in a filing cabinet in the Club House for those occasions when the Secretary is not able to be present.  There is available space and the members agreed.

 

Rick Holley, W2QJH, reported that there was a Homeland Security meeting at Jefferson Community College.  However, no amateur radio operators were present at the meeting.  We will be invited to the next meeting.  Races is no longer active and Denver WD5DVM is setting up a Radio Station at Carthage Hospital.  Nelson has also contacted Indian River School System to arrange for Emergency Setup. 

 

Field Days on or about the 25th of June will be held at the Club Site and at Salmon Run Mall in order to involve the public in Ham Radio activities.  Rick, W2QJH offered the use of his generator.  His offer is greatly appreciated.  

 

Motion made to adjourn the meeting by Ernie, WB2ASL and seconded by _____________.  The meeting adjourned at 8:16 PM.
