UHF Repeater
I am still deployed but when I get back I would like to setup an UHF repeater hooked up to my WIRESII node. Of course I will purchase the equipment out of pocket but would like to know what permits I need and licensing procedures for the repeater. It will not be on a tower and output power will not be more than 50W. It will be set up on my property out in Evans Mills. Any ideas or if anybody has an UHF repeater or equipment for sale please let me know.
About my WIRESII node: it must be on UHF. It is linked with a repeater in the Republic of Panama. My callsing there is HP2HBD. It is also linked to a Miami repeater. Again, any ideas please let me know.

RE: UHF Repeater
Lars,

I'm looking forward to meeting up with you when you get back. You once asked me about EmComm in Jeff County and a lot has changed. I'll post the details elsewhere here in the forum for you and everyone else to read.

Back to your question here. It's good that you asked about local regs because in fact we do have to submit to a bit more scrutiny living so close to Canada. There exists a corridor up to 40 miles from the border wherein we have to apply to the St. Lawrence Valley Repeater Association (Canada) to gain permission to place a permanent and coordinated repeater on our soil. The last one to be allowed on 440 under their rule was placed at Potsdam University at a height of no more than 15 feet (aat) with an output of no more than 10 watts - just enough to cover the campus grounds. Evans Mills unfortunately is within 25 miles of the border. The club can help you with the applications to both St. Lawrence and to UNIREPCO (the U.S. side). The UNIREPCO rep in Watertown is Chris Allen KA2QJO. Now that your back in town we can get the ball rolling. A club rep will be there every step of the way should you desire. Call the club at 493.0102 or you can call me at 783.8671.

Phil
