    Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

May I pick any name or pseudonym for my forum username?

No, this is not an anonymous site. An amateur radio operator is expected to use his/her CALLSIGN typed properly in uppercase format such as KA4XYZ. Non-licensed users should use their real first and last name. Please use upper and lower case letters such as John Doe.

I registered my CALL SIGN and validated my account by clicking on the link in the Email that was sent to me, but I still can't post messages. What am I doing wrong?

Most likely you failed to LOGIN after you registered and validated your account. Registering for forum access is the first step of the process. You still have to login with your username and password each time you wish to enter the forum. If you don't login, you will only be granted Guest Access.  A guest cannot post messages or use other features of the forum.

Is there a way to make it easier so that I don't have to enter my username and password each time I visit the message forum?

Yes, when you login by typing your username and password, be sure to check the box below that says, "Log me on automatically each visit."  Then click the LOGIN button. When you are finished, do not log off. Simply close your browser and the session cookies will remember your preference. For security reasons, when using a public computer, you should not use this automatic login feature.

Does the KC2ELX.NET forum use browser cookies to collect information?

Yes, browsing KC2ELX.NET will cause the forum software to create a number of cookies, which are small text files that are downloaded on to your computer’s web browser temporary files. The first two cookies just contain a user identifier and an anonymous session identifier, automatically assigned to you by the forum software. A third cookie will be created once you have browsed topics within KC2ELX.NET and is used to store which topics have been read, thereby improving your user experience.

Do I have to be a member of JCRAC to use this forum?

All amateur radio operators (hams) and other interested persons are welcome to use our website and forum.

Does registering for forum access offer any other benefits?

In addition to being able to post and reply to other messages, registered users may also send private messages and Email to others through our Email forwarding system. You will also be able to customize and set user preferences once you register and login to the forum.
